Sri Lankan Brand Gives Back to Society in Multitudes of Ways

Ariya Milk Products Private Limited, is a dairy company set up by Veteran Media Personality and Entrepreneur Deshamanya Deshabandu Ariyasiri Vitanage and Deshabandu Deshamanya D.L Weerasuriya, who has been a key player in the dairy and confectionary industry for over 40 years. Their mutual goal is to provide the highest quality milk powder to the Sri Lankan Consumer.

The company’s much-awaited full cream milk powder from Murray Goulburn Australia, one of the foremost milk producers in Australia has been well-accepted by discerning customers looking for the highest quality milk powder at affordable rates. The milk powder which is the only one in the market that comes from Australia, is also 100% natural certified with no added preservatives. The product has also been tested and contains No DCD, No Melamine, No Animal Meat Fat, and No Vegetable Fat/Palm Oil.

In keeping in line with the company’s policy of giving back to society, Ariya Milk Foods also carried out many CSR activities during the short period of time since its launch. The most recent programme was held in lieu of World Children’s Day which fell on the 1st of October 2019. Children at the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind in Ratmalana and Taxila Central College Horana were provided with Ariya Milk. The company also continuously supports a family of six in Matale that was brought to light by a news channel for not having enough income to provide for their large family. This family receives a monthly package of all required dry rations and milk powder.

Another unique CSR activity carried out by Ariya Milk is the “Kiri Mawa Surakimu” programme,

In this programme a village is chosen and the head of the community picks low-income families to receive cows, through which they can enrich their lives with fresh-milk for consumption and sale. These cows are purchased from slaughter houses on the day of the programme and given to these families to commence home-based dairy industries. This programme has ensured that the lives of many cows are saved and handed over across the island including Matara, Aluthgama, Anuradhapura, Kalutara and the Kataragama Devalaya. This programme also increases the country’s potential towards being self-sufficient in dairy. Each month every cow’s health is checked as well as it’s respective owner is given tips and advised on how to ensure good health and happiness as well as maximizing yield for the family’s dairy produce.

Meanwhile, Ariya Milk also provided over two hundred thousand tea cups to pilgrims at religious events held across the island including the “Pichchamal Puja” at the Anuradhapura “Sri Maha Bhodhiya”, Kandy Sri Dalada Perahara, Jaffna Nallur Kovil Festival, Rathnapura Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Dewalaya Perahera and the Bellanwila Perahara.

Furthermore, the company also constructed a two-story house worth 2.7 million rupees for a disabled war-veteran which was handed over under the patronage of Chief Executive Officer D.L Weerasuriya and the former Army Commander.

The Ariya Brand, which was initiated by Ariyasiri Vithanage in 1999, currently exports rice and spices to many countries such as USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Maldives, France, Germany Singapore, Italy, China , and GCC countries, while meeting a considerable portion of rice requirement in the country.
