Galle Face Hotel joins French Spring Festival as Hospitality Partner to promote art and culture in Sri Lanka
The Galle Face Hotel today announced its appointment as hospitality partner for the annual French Spring Festival that will take place from June 3rd to July 14th 2016. Organized by the Embassy of France and the network of the Alliance Française, the festival features a series of multidisciplinary events celebrating arts and culture from both France and Sri Lanka.
From the 3rd of June until the French Bastille Day on the 14th of July, the 5th edition of the French Spring Festival will showcase a variety of events. Visual arts, cinema, and musical rhythms ranging from gipsy jazz to contemporary songs will contribute to strengthen the ties between European and south Asian cultures, offering a platform for free expression of the artists, as well as a range of outstanding cultural explorations and discoveries.
Following from last year’s projects – and especially the series of “Focus on Climate Change” in the run up to the Paris Conference on Climate change (COP 21), this year’s festival will give special attention to promoting sustainable practices, with a focus on heritage and sustainable development.
The Galle Face Hotel will play host to two events taking place during the festival, the prestigious Bastille Day 2016 celebration of France’s independence, as well as a high powered meeting between experts from France and Sri Lanka who will exchange viewpoints on natural heritage, preservation and the development of eco-tourism.
