LAUGFS Gas Becomes First Sri Lankan LPG Company to be OHSAS 18001 Certified

LAUGFS Gas PLC was recently awarded the OHSAS 18001 certification, a global benchmark for excellence in occupational health and safety management. Awarded by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI), this certification serves to further reinforce the company’s commitment to operational excellence through continuous focus on strengthening operational processes and systems, and adopting benchmark practices and international standards.

“We are honoured to have become the first Sri Lankan company in the LPG industry to be certified with the globally acclaimed OHSAS 18001. Having entered the local LPG downstream industry 16 years ago at a time when it was dominated by a multinational, our teams have worked tirelessly to build LAUGFS Gas into a formidable player capable of competing shoulder-to-shoulder with international giants. OHSAS 18001 is a globally recognized occupational health and safety standard system that aims to assist organizations to manage and control their work place safety. The adoption and compliance of these stringent standards by LAUGFS Gas is supported by a strong Occupational, Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) with comprehensive health and safety policies, protocols and procedures to identify workplace hazards, assess risk and determine controls to ensure a safe workplace.
