CICT wins Chamber of Commerce softball cricket tournament
A relatively new team from Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) emerged champions at the annual six-a-side softball cricket tournament conducted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) recently.
The CICT team won the trophy easily eclipsing the 91/3 posted by the other finalist Salota (the team that won the CASA 2018 six-a-side tournament) losing just one wicket in the process. CICT’s all-rounder Madusha Lakshan Perera who scored a whirlwind 74 not out in just 16 balls was adjudged Man of the Match and Best Bowler.
On the way to the final, the CICT team beat Dharmasiri Tyres, Watawala Tea, Fairfirst Insurance, Dart Global, Millennium Construction, Lanka Shipping & Logistics and Miami Clothing. A total of 40 teams competed in the tournament.
The CICT team was led by Anju Jayashantha (Captain) and comprised of B. D. A. Chamara, P. A. T. M. Randunu, K. Sanjay A. Kumara, Sharika Lakmal, Gayashan Bandara, H. Madusha Lakshan Perera and Anjelo Kenadi. The team was coached by Nishantha Gunasekara and Roshan Karunarathne.
