NGage Goodvocacy debuts with ‘Festival for Our Planet’
With Sri Lanka’s pioneering Integrated Marketing Communications Agency brand’s strategic realignment as NGage Strategic Alliance (formerly known as Bates Strategic Alliance), its advocacy arm, NGage Goodvocacy, will debut with a public launch event to drive environmental and climate change awareness, hosting a day of learning and fun with The Good Market as its co-host at the Race Course this Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
This event aligns with the worldwide “Climate Strike” children’s campaign the previous day, to mobilise Sri Lanka’s own would-be activists. With each passing year, the number of climate disasters is startling. Inspired by school-children striking against a failed system in over 270 cities around the world, the event titled ‘Festival for Our Planet’ is set to draw attention to better management of climate-related and environmental risks, thereby creating greater social and sustainable value.
A stellar line-up of top environmental experts and activists will share their knowledge on global warming and climate change, action to halt environmental degradation occurring through pollution of oceans, habitat, water and air, protecting our forests and the biodiversity of our rainforests as well as our heritage elephants and whales, advocating solutions such as shifting from fossil fuels to renewables, thinking sustainability in production, consumption and development of cities, and driving climate-smart practices and sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems. .
Speaking about the relevance of his new, visionary consultancy brand, Founder and Leader of NGage Strategic Alliance, Nimal Gunewardena philosophized: “We have to take note of the critical sustainability challenges of our world, and as marketers move from the consumerist culture of the last century into innovation in our products and practices to create brands that resonate as ethical and responsible ones. As communicators, we must embrace social cohesion and environmental advocacy by driving engagement campaigns that convey the committment of our corporate and individual responsibility as citizens of Sri Lanka.”
In addition to the speaker platform, the festival will have many educational and fun activities from environmental videos and movies on large-screen, an art installation and informational poster exhibit, quizzes and drawing contests for kids, with musicians joining in through the day and for an evening concert.
The event is co-hosted at its popular Race Course venue by The Good Market initiative with the Environmental Foundation Limited as a partner, both like-minded advocates of eco-friendly and sustainable solutions for greener nation.
‘Festival for Our Planet’ builds on the Agency’s acclaimed speaker event at its 25th Anniversary last year, to create new platforms aimed at spreading awareness on environmental harm mitigation, the causes and essential action that each citizen must pitch in with for a protected future.
