Perera & Sons takes a stand against COVID-19 with their innovative Mask Up campaign
In an unprecedented effort as a titan in the Quick Service Restaurant industry of Sri Lanka, Perera & Sons (P&S) has once again set a benchmark through the launch of a unique campaign which addresses the need of the hour. The aptly named Mask Up campaign seeks to build awareness on the importance of wearing a mask during these trying times. Following a youthful and informative approach, this campaign seeks to engage its loyal customer base in a highly interactive manner.
In the midst of a pandemic, health authorities and international bodies around the world have strongly advised the active use of face masks as effective personal protective equipment.
Stressing on the fact that COVID-19 can be spread by people who do not have symptoms and who do not know that they are infected, the only way to protect oneself from this invisible virus is to actively participate in the use of face masks.
The team at P&S has come to the conclusion that many Sri Lankans find excuses not to wear masks, ranging from an inability to breathe, pain in the ears to not being able to be heard properly when speaking. Regardless, the underlying message of the Mask Up campaign is that the objective of the corona virus is to infect its human host, without any excuses.
The interactive Mask Up campaign encourages P&S customers to change their Facebook profile picture to one that includes the P&S Mask Up frame which will, in turn, spread awareness. One may then post their best creative excuse to avoid wearing a mask with the hashtag ‘#P&Smaskup’ on the posts detailed through the P&S Instagram page. The top 80 creative comments will receive vouchers worth Rs.1000 /- which may be used at any P&S outlet. The most creative excuse will be featured on a billboard or poster at selected P&S outlets.
Taking it a step further to engage the public with this campaign even more, P&S has also arranged a social media video contest via Facebook. Those who wish to participate may do so by posting a creative video of themselves, highlighting a unique reason to abstain from wearing a mask with the hashtag ‘#P&Smaskup’. The winner of the grand prize will receive a sum of Rs. 50000 /-. As P&S recognizes the effort of all participants, five consolation prizes of Rs. 10000 /- each will also be distributed.
This all important CSR activity by P&S will be extremely valuable among the customers and communities that it operates in. A campaign such as this which aims to protect and secure the health of its customers is expected to boost the morale of all Sri Lankans. Additionally, it will also foster a stronger bond between employees and customers, resulting in both parties feeling more connected with the world around them as we should all protect ourselves amidst this pandemic.
In terms of outlet safety, P&S has taken a stand to make it mandatory for all outlet staff to wear masks and sanitize regularly. Additionally, customers who enter any P&S outlet are required to wear masks as well. The public can be rest assured that since P&S is a leader in the Quick Service Restaurant industry, it has always adhered to the most stringent health and safety regulations set by the Government of Sri Lanka.
