ලංකාවටම QR with FriMi Introduces Phase Two
The second phase of the “ලංකාවටම QR with FriMi” was launched in Nugegoda on the 18th of March 2021. As the nation’s first fully-fledged digital banking app, FriMi initiated the “ලංකාවටම QR with FriMi” drive to promote the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s island-wide LANKAQR campaign aimed at elevating cashless payments across Sri Lanka.
Making the first-ever LANKAQR payment at the Sarasavi Bookshop Pvt Ltd in Nugegoda was chief guest, Mr. D. Kumaratunge, Director, Payments and Settlements of CBSL. Also joining from CBSL – to support the revolutionary LANKAQR code as a convenient payment method for all – was Mr. Gayal Rupasinghe, Senior Assistant Director, Payments and Settlements.
FriMi also made a commitment to uplift digital payments in the education sector, encouraging students at the NIBM Innovation Center in Kirulapone to experience seamless digital transactions via the app. In addition to being the first educational institution to get onboard with LANKAQR, NIBM is also in partnership with Nations Trust Bank as a strategic banking partner receiving the benefits of corporate banking solutions, Nations Direct Commercial platform and exclusive Nations Trust Bank American Express offers.
Championing the new payment solution and representing Nations Trust Bank at the drive was the senior management of the Bank including Mr. Randil Boteju, Senior Vice President of Sales and Digital Banking.
