IPM Hosts Business Leaders’ Breakfast Forum with Prof. T. V. Rao
The Institute of Personnel Management of Sri Lanka (IPM) – the leading professional human resources management body in Sri Lanka will stage a Business Leaders’ Power Breakfast Forum from 7:30 am to 9:30am on Tuesday 24th March 2015 at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
The keynote speaker will be the renowned HR expert Professor T. V. Rao who together with Hon. Eran Wickramaratne, MP and Deputy Minister of Highways, Higher Education and Investment Promotion will address a distinguished gathering of Business Leaders on “How HR and Good Governance Can Drive Any Business”.
The objective of this Business Leaders’ Forum is to highlight the importance of developing Human Resources in the operation, growth and governance of companies and to share insights.
The above Business Leaders’ Breakfast Forum will be preceded by a workshop on Monday 23rd March 2015 at the Ivy Room, Cinnamon Grand hotel on “How HRD Audit & HR Scorecard can Drive Businesses”, a forum dedicated for those in the field of HR, aiming to aid HR professionals to evaluate, through an HRD scorecard, as to how well the HRD efforts and strategies drive business goals and their achievement. The workshop complements the main Business Leaders Power Breakfast Forum.
Prof. Rao is currently the Chairman of Talam Venkateswara Rao Learning System. He was a Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) between 1973 and 1994 and a Visiting or Adjunct Professor until 2014 and is also a member of the IIMA Society and the Board of Governors. He is the Founder and First President of the National HRD Network, and the First Honorary Director of the Academy of HRD, India. Prof. Rao has authored, coauthored or edited over fifty books dealing with Organizational Behavior, HRD, Education Management, Health and Population Management, Entrepreneurship Development etc. His most recent publications include: Managers Who Make a Difference, Hurconomics: for Talent Management, Nurturing Institutional Excellence and 100 Managers in Action.
The renowned HR Guru Dave Ulrich has endorsed Prof. Rao’s book “HRD Audit: Evaluating the Human Resource Function for Business Improvement” as a great contribution to enhance the value proposition of HR. The book has a sale of over 15,000 copies and is identified as a best seller.
Human Resources and Good Governance go hand in hand since well trained and empowered employees with the correct attitude will be the starting point for ensuring good governance at all levels of an organization and particularly at the senior management level. IPM was founded in 1959 and was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976. The Institute has developed to be the leading Human Resource authority in Sri Lanka and has contributed significantly to develop and nurture the Human Resource Management profession in the country.
IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Association. IPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently IPM comprises of over 900 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations, as well as approximately 7,000 students who follow the diverse programs on human resources offered by IPM and its regional study centers throughout the country.
