SLIIT ICAC 2022 concludes promoting advancements of research in Computing
The 4th International Conference on Advancements in Computing 2022 (ICAC2022) concluded on a positive note recently promoting advancements in computing towards economic prosperity in Sri Lanka.
Held on the9th and 10th of December 2022 for the fourth consecutive year, ICAC 2022 was organized by Faculty of Computing, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). The event’s main aim was to provide an open forum for academics along with industry professionals to present latest research findings and practical deployments of research outputs in the domains of Computer Science and Information Technology.
Enlivening the event, eminent high-profile keynote speaker Prof. Hossein Sarrafzadeh, Director, Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, Education, and Outreach (CREO) at NC A&T State University delivered a speech on ‘Cybersecurity threats, opportunities, and possibilities for international collaboration in research and education’ discussing cybersecurity threats of national significance and the relevant research that can help to reduce the risks associated with cyber security globally.
Distinguished keynote speaker Prof. Janaka Bandara Ekanayake, Chair professor of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Peradeniya addressed the gathering on ‘ICT infrastructure for Solar Future’ highlighting the barriers, solutions, and ICT solutions to achieve a solar future.
This year the conference received more than 270 manuscripts from both local and international authors around the world. These manuscripts were submitted under nine tracks capturing emerging research areas in Computing such as Data Science and Data Driven Approaches, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Communication and Networked Services, Cyber Security, Autonomous Intelligent Machines and Systems, Technology-Enhanced Learning, Information Systems, and Computing for Business and Society.
All submitted papers were carefully reviewed by a panel of more than 150 well-experienced local and international reviewers. The reviewing process was double-blind, where the reviewers provided extensive constructive feedback to the authors for further improving their manuscripts.
Following the reviewing process, 85 manuscripts were selected for oral presentations on the conference dates.
The Conference also offered invaluable learning opportunities through thought-provoking workshops. Four free workshops were conducted by experts from the academia and industry on themes related to the conference topics providing a unique convergence of learning.
Financial sponsorship for the event was provided by Fortude and Creative Solutions, while IEEE Sri Lankan section was the technical sponsor of the conference. As the industry partner SLASSCOM promoted the conference all over the Sri Lanka to reach a massive target audience.
