The LEO Club of The University of Kelaniya successfully completes project “Diya Dahara”.
The Clean Water and Energy Conservation Avenue of the LEO Club of the University of Kelaniya successfully completed the project Diya Dahara at the Arachchikattuwa/ Kelegama Dhammaloka Maha Vidyalaya by establishing a water supply system needed to the school to access adequate clean water. A water motor, a tank and necessary pipelines were set up at the school as an attempt of addressing the consequences, including absenteeism, that students face due to the lack of access to water. Singer Sri Lanka (PVT) Ltd., Wijaya Products (PVT) Ltd, Mr. Waruna Arawgoda and other doners partnered with the LEO Club in this community service project.
Going beyond the project objectives of donating a water supply system, the LEOs of the University of Kelaniya conducted a motivational session to all the students of the Dhammaloka Maha Vidyalaya to raise positive attitudes in succeeding with their academic performance and being responsible citizens to the community. The staff and students of the Arachchikattuwa Dhammloka Vidyalaya had also made arrangements to celebrate the 75th Independence Day Ceremony in line with the proceedings of the project. The executive board and director board of the LEO Club of the University of Kelaniya, Members of the LEO Club, non-Leos of the University of Kelaniya, the principal, teachers, parents, and students of the Dhammaloka Vidyalaya were present at the event.
