Ceylinco Life’s model Green branch opens for business in Matale
Ceylinco Life has opened its latest eco-friendly branch building in Matale on company-owned land, providing the picturesque hill country city a facility custom-designed to meet sustainability specifications and to deliver an enhanced customer experience.
An investment of Rs 105 million, the three-storey, 6,000 square foot building is located at 746/1, Trincomalee Street, Mandandawela, Matale; is the first Ceylinco Life branch to be built on company-owned land in the Matale district; and the 30th purpose-built planet-friendly branch built by Ceylinco Life to date, as part of the Company’s Green agenda.
Contributing to a further reduction of the carbon footprint of Ceylinco Life, the new branch is powered by a 25kW on-grid solar power system and a 5kW off-grid solar power system that minimises consumption of electricity from, and supplies excess electricity to, the national grid. It also has a rainwater harvesting facility and a wastewater recycling system that minimises consumption of pipe-borne water.
The building is designed for optimal use of natural light and is equipped with the latest energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems. The construction also minimised the use of timber and new trees were grown on the property to enhance is Green credentials.
In order to enhance the customer experience, Ceylinco Life said it has provided ample car parking facilities and designed the interior to offer personal discussion rooms and other facilities to visitors. The building will initially accommodate Ceylinco Life staff of four sales regions representing Matale and its environs. The building also has a training facility to that can accommodate up to 50 people at a time.
Ceylinco Life is in the process of constructing Green buildings for its branches in Ja-Ela, Minuwangoda and Matugama. The Company currently owns over 45 properties, including the buildings housing its offices in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamaharama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena, Mount Lavinia, and Wellawatte, many of which have already been converted to solar energy. Among the new branch buildings purpose-built to the company’s sustainable energy model are those at Horana, Panadura, Wennappuwa, Bandarawela, Chilaw, Kadawatha, Jaffna, Malabe, Divulapitiya, Negombo, Nelliady and Piliyandala.
