CIPM Launches Yet Another Sustainability Initiative
CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management, announced an important milestone in their commitment to environmental sustainability by initiating a PET plastic collection and recycling program in collaboration with Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka (CCBSL). Under the guidance and advice of Ken Vijayakumar – President of CIPM, and Ms. Wasanthi Vithanage – Chairperson of the CIPM Standing Committee on Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusivity, a dedicated 50Kg recycling unit was installed recently adjacent to the head office building to facilitate the collection and recycling of used PET bottles to make a positive impact on the environment.
“Environmental sustainability is a key concern for all organizations and individuals alike. With this new initiative, while we are enhancing our commitment to environmental sustainability by encouraging the systematic recycling of Plastic, we are also sending a strong message to our stakeholders to join us in our endeavour to make the world a better place for all of us,” said Ken Vijayakumar – President, CIPM Sri Lanka.
“CCBSL is working towards Coca-Cola’s global World Without Waste Goal – where the company aims to collect and recycle a bottle for each one it sells by 2030. CCBSL has over 125+ partnerships under the Giveback Life (GBL) programme, steering recyclable waste management in Sri Lanka. This partnership with CIPM is one of the many initiatives under the GBL programme committed to finding improved solutions to recover and recycle Plastic,” said Thamari Senanayake – Director, Public Affairs Communication & Sustainability, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited.
Chris Obeyesekere – CEO, G. Weerathunga- Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, and the Chairperson of the CIPM Standing on Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusivity, joined the CIPM President at the launch event, which was held recently.
