Dulux sponsors historic Sri Vishnu Maha Devalaya Esala Perahara for 5th year
The historic Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Maha Devalaya Esala Perahara in Dondra took place in grand splendor recently with the support of Dulux SuperKote by AkzoNobel Paints Lanka as sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. The association melds well with Dulux’s local initiative of illuminating cultural and historic events and occasions around Sri Lanka with Dulux SuperKote providing the paint for the Sri Vishnu Devalaya and the ‘Makara Thorana’ or Dragons Arch.
Celebrated for the 758th time by historic reckoning, the ‘Peli Perahara’ was held from the 25th to the 30th of July, while the ‘Randoli Perahara’ took place on the 31st of July. The ‘Kolmura Yagaya’ was also held on the 06th of July in order to wish wellness and prosperity to Sri Lanka and its citizens. The festival culminated in the ‘Deva Dinaya’ that was celebrated on the 7th of August.
The Dulux SuperKote art competition, conducted for the thousands of visitors who traveled in to witness the Perahara on the 30th and 31st was themed along the Sri Vishnu Maha Devalaya Randoli Pageant. A distribution of prizes for the winners of the children’s art pageant as well as a quiz for the other guests who were present were all designed to celebrate the festival and enhance the knowledge of the devotees and visitors on the historic and cultural importance of the site.
