HNB donates surgical equipment and accessories to National Hospital accident ward
Further fortifying essential health services available to the public, Sri Lanka’s leading private sector bank HNB PLC, donated surgical equipment and accessories to the accident ward of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
The initiative offers HNB the opportunity to enhance facilities available at the accident ward for the general public. HNB Chief Manager -Strategic Planning, Priyanka Wijayaratne, HNB Sustainable Business Officer in Charge, Shanel Perera, and HNB CSR and Sustainability Assistant, V. Disharatnam handed over the equipment to the hospital officials recently.
“As Sri Lanka is combatting the spread of COVID-19, healthcare workers have been tirelessly working on the frontlines to keep our nation safe and healthy. As such we hope the hospital considers this donation a token of our gratitude to the healthcare sector,” HNB Chief Transformation Officer / Trustee HNB Sustainability Foundation, Chiranthi Cooray said.
The donation follows on the heels of others made by HNB to the healthcare sector since the initial lockdown in March last year.
“HNB has supported the healthcare sector on numerous occasions, especially during the COVID 19 Pandemic. This has ensured we provide the patients entering the hospital are well taken care of.
We are grateful for the support offered by the bank and we hope to continue this partnership to uplift the health conditions of all Sri Lankan during these difficult times,” National Hospital of Sri Lanka Deputy Director General, Dr Kumara Wickramasinghe said
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka is the largest teaching hospital and the final referral centre in the country consisting of 3000 beds. The hospital is also the training centre for under graduate and post graduate trainees from the Faculty of Medicine.
