  • MillenniumIT ESP collaborates with Microsoft to roll out HealthVision for MJF Charitable Foundation.
  • HealthVision is MillenniumIT ESP’s latest solution on remote patient management that focuses on patient primary healthcare and symptom reporting.
  • MJF Charitable Foundation is an esteemed non-profit organisation in Sri Lanka formed by Dilmah Tea Founder Merrill J. Fernando.

MillenniumIT ESP – one of Sri Lanka’s leading Systems Integrator and Information Systems providers – rolls out HealthVision, a remote patient assessment and monitoring solution, for well-respected, local non-for-profit MJF Charitable Foundation (MJFCF) established by Dilmah Tea founder Merrill J. Fernando. The MJF Centres will be using HealthVision for their Disability unit which comprises of the Rainbow Centre and the National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders (NCCCPDD). For this project execution, MillenniumIT ESP is working with Microsoft Sri Lanka through their philanthropies arm who donated Microsoft Azure services to deploy HealthVision at MJFCF.

HealthVision is a web-enabled, mobile responsive, intuitive platform for medical personnel to connect with their patients remotely. At the MJF Charitable Foundation, HealthVision will enable medical personnel and caregivers to connect with children that have Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disorders from across Sri Lanka; record their current health, safety and risk details through a guided questionnaire; visually capture their expressions, symptoms and symptom history through video and audio recordings; provide home based therapies and care where applicable; and continue communications with them on a periodic basis to ascertain the status of their wellbeing.

The National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders at MJFCF serves as a national hub, offering various services such as education, therapy, training and counselling for children with Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disorders, as well as their caregivers, teachers and trainers who work with special needs individuals.

HealthVision will be powering ‘disABILITY’, the disability screening and management application of MJF Foundation, and the platform will be specifically connecting children with special needs and their families in Sri Lanka to MJF Centre’s services provided at NCCCPDD and via other partners across Sri Lanka; including Disability Screening, Developmental Screening, Child Reference to Pediatrician Diagnosis, Early Identification and Intervention, Free Multidisciplinary Team Support, Free Therapeutic, Educational and Rehabilitation Services, Free Mobility Aids Support and Child Progress Monitoring Follow Ups.

“It is with great pleasure that we partner with MJFCF to introduce HealthVision to Sri Lanka through a great philanthropic service,” stated Mr. Murali Prakash, Director – MillenniumIT ESP and Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer – Ambeon Capital PLC and Ambeon Holding PLC. “With the assistance of HealthVision, a remote monitoring e-solution, charitable institutions such as MJF Foundation can now monitor children in their care from a distant location expanding the reach of much need therapeutic services for children and adults who are differently abled. The use of HealthVision further ensures the reduction of healthcare risks where deterioration in a patient’s health status can be brought to a provider’s attention early enough allowing proactive intervention and personalised care, thus assisting their caregivers, teachers and trainers who work with special needs individuals,” he concluded.

In this case, patients and/or their parents or caretakers will be able to securely access the HealthVision platform through the solution’s web URL or via its mobile app. The HealthVision powered ‘disABILITY’ app, which supports both Android and iOS, can be signed in via the one-time-password (OTP) sent for authentication to their respectively registered mobile number. Each recorded case will be identified with a unique reference code and provided to the patient for future reference.

On the other hand, HealthVision will allow medical personnel and caregivers to communicate with special needs children and their parents or caretakers through video, audio and chat facility. They will also be able to access their patients’ assessments or inquiries through the solution’s Admin Panel and patient cases will be automatically allocated to the medical personnel in the system. Moreover, the Admin Panel will be providing valuable insights to identify the children’s current status, where they are located, provide them the resources needed to maintain a positive mindset and guidance to follow the medical advice offered by the medical personnel.

“The MJF Centres around Sri Lanka work with over 400 children daily. However, there is an estimate of 40,000 children with Cerebral Palsy living in Sri Lanka,” says Mr. Dilhan C. Fernando, CEO of Dilmah and Director of MJFCF and NCCPDD. “This partnership provides a wider reach to ensure that more children and others living with the stigma of disability have access to services they may not receive otherwise,” he added.

Overall, MillenniumIT ESP’s latest solution HealthVision, will provide MJFCF’s medical personnel detailed information of symptoms and video captures of their patients’ cases, risk ratings of each case for efficient prioritization of same, and the ability to customise the solution’s questionnaires and workflows to suit the National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders’ precise requirements.

The MJF Charitable Foundation is the fulfilment of Dilmah Founder Merrill J. Fernando’s philosophy of making business a matter of human service. The principle of purpose beyond profit, and an emphasis on empowerment of marginalised people and communities goes beyond charity and corporate social responsibility; it is genuinely sustainable and represents a sustainable way of doing business. This ‘way’ acknowledges that social justice, community and the environment are integral elements in any business process not as options or part of a marketing led Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, but as a core feature of the business objectives. By the end of 2020, the Foundation hopes to impact over 18,000 lives directly and significantly with a total of 100,000 lives reached.
