Sunshine Holdings supports Sri Lanka Police with donation of Watawala Tea
Sunshine Holdings recently donated Watawala Tea valued at Rs. 2 million to the Sri Lanka Police. The donation is a part of a series of initiatives by the Group to support the country’s ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19.
The donation was handed over by the Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Consumer Lanka Surith Perera and the Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Tea Sanjeewa Saranapala to the Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne and Senior Deputy Inspector General Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon. The donation took place with strict compliance to health and safety regulations imposed by the Ministry of Health.
“The Sri Lankan Police Force has been a source of strength for all citizens during the pandemic through their tireless efforts to set order to chaos and mitigate the growing impact of COVID-19. As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognise and appreciate the role they play to support communities and businesses, vaccination drives, and quarantine centers at this difficult time in history. This donation of Watawala Tea, which is Sri Lanka’s leading tea brand, is therefore a token of our deep appreciation of their hard work hard being carried out throughout this tough period,” said Sunshine Holdings Group Managing Director Vish Govindasamy.

As Sri Lanka’s number one branded Tea Company, Sunshine Consumer Lanka contributed immensely for the society by donating Watawala Tea for the consumption of individuals and staff placed in Quarantine Centres and island-wide hospitals. Additionally, we assisted the needy in deep rural areas across the nation as well as members of the tri forces,” said Sunshine Consumer Lanka Chief Executive Officer Surith Perera.
