Browns leads knowledge-sharing programme for local farmers

Brown & Company PLC’s Veterinary Pharmaceuticals division, along with Nevil Farm organized a knowledge-sharing programme for farmers in Kirindiwela. This is part of a series of educational programmes, which will be held monthly, and will aim to reach farmers across the country. With over 100 farmers participating, the workshop covered topics such as current issues faced in farming-related matters, chronic farm animal diseases, methods on increasing productivity and disease prevention. The programme was supported by Zagro, which deals with animal health, and Stallen, specializing in avian biological products.

The agricultural sector contributes around 16.8% to the country’s national GDP, while the livestock sub sector contributes around 1.2%. Recognizing the importance of these local industries coupled with Browns’ keen understanding on our farming communities and their need for the latest in product knowledge and good farming practices, such programmes have quickly become an important part of the Company’s work.
