DIMO sweeps CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards
DIMO carries away a haul of five awards including Silver for Overall Excellence and Gold awards for winning three sectors.
Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) swept five awards at the CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards 2016, winning the overall Silver Award for the best annual report in the competition as well as Gold awards for Integrated Reporting, Best Disclosure on Business Model and for Diversified Holdings (Groups up to ten subsidiaries) and a Silver award for Management Commentary.
DIMO was recently recognized by Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top Ten Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka, at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2016. The Project “Team Shark”- Formula Student was also awarded as one of the top 5 projects at the same event, in recognition of DIMO’s commitment beyond the bottom line.
DIMO has consecutively won the top award for Integrated Reporting sector since 2012/13 – the year the category was introduced to CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards. Moreover, DIMO has been dominating the sector of Diversified Holdings (up to five subsidiaries which was later awarded under up to ten subsidiaries) by winning the top award consecutively for the last 12 years.
DIMO’s achievement of winning 5 awards was considered a major feat considering the strong competition from more than 140 annual reports. This recognition stands testament to DIMO’s longstanding corporate commitment to transparency and accountability to its stakeholders. DIMO has been a pioneer of Integrated Reporting in Sri Lanka and is the only Sri Lankan entity to have been a part of the International Integrated Reporting Committee’s pilot program leading to the establishment of the Integrated Reporting Framework.
DIMO first published an Integrated Annual Report for the year ended 2010/11 and has since consistently received commendation from international experts for conveying a complex value creation story in a compellingly readable, clear and concise presentation. This year’s winning report was the company’s sixth integrated report.
The DIMO annual report for 2015/16 was presented under the theme ‘What you see is what you get’, referring to the impeccable trust and transparency that forms the basis of the 77-year-old company’s enduring relationships with its stakeholders.
DIMO Chairman & Managing Director RanjithPandithage, speaking on behalf of his DIMO Tribe, said: “We are humbled by this consistency in our performance year after year. We thank CA Sri Lanka and the organising committee for presenting us the opportunity to get recognised for our genuine efforts to publish an annual report of world class quality and simplicity. We are driven solely by the desire to create better value for stakeholders by improving our social, economic and environmental performance.”
