LAUGFS Eco Sri Opens Vehicle Emission Testing Centres in all Curfew Relaxed Areas
From the 20th of April onwards, LAUGFS Eco Sri, a pioneer in Vehicle Emission Testing in Sri Lanka, has opened its vehicle emission testing centres in all operational areas in which curfew has relaxed. Centres in areas with prevailing curfew including Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha and Puttalam will not be open during this time. Fixed Centres will operate until 6pm and Mobile Centres will operate until 5pm, in order to serve the needs of customer vehicular emission testing, except in the cases of suddenly imposed curfew.
In accordance with health and safety precautions for COVID-19, all Eco Sri Staff have been thoroughly trained with safety protocols when engaging with customers and their vehicles. Testing centres have been re-arranged in order to facilitate the necessary social distancing and all staff have been trained in additional safety protocols to be followed before and after entering vehicles for testing procedures.
In addition to careful hand washing hygiene and constant sanitization, all staff will maintain 1m social distancing and will be equipped with face masks and gloves. Staff health is monitored throughout the day to mitigate any risk to customers. To ensure that customer’s safety is maintained at all times, staff have been trained to securely handle documents and cash with precautions and ensure that all equipment is regularly disinfected throughout the day.
It is recommended for customers to avoid entering the centre if they have a fever, cough, sore throat or other symptoms of illness. Only a single person should be present with their vehicle and it is necessary to wear a mask at all times. Customers are requested to remain in their vehicle until advised to step out for the testing process. Customers will need to provide the regular documentation required for the testing process and are requested to avoid touching surfaces of doors, windows, walls or testing equipment within the centre.
Though license renewal dates have been extended, it is recommended for customers to have their emission testing done within this period when convenient, in order to avoid long waiting times due to overcrowding. Prior to departure for testing, it is recommended for the customer to run their vehicle for at least 10km and to ensure that the engine has been running for a minimum of 15 minutes. This is to ensure that the engine of the vehicle will heat up to the required temperature after remaining dormant during curfew hours.
