LAUGFS SadahamPrarthana
A special Wesak programme ‘SadahamPrarthana’ took place in a sedate and virtuous note during May this year at LAUGFS. The programme, which was scheduled to be held in three phases had many interesting events lined up, aiming towards encouraging staff to take a moment out of work to reflect upon inner wellbeing and spirituality, as well as compassion, and generosity.
The series of events commenced with the “LAUGFS DamsakNadha”, a panel discussion on ‘Work Life Balance’, which was held at the Sri SambuddhathvaJayanthiMandiraya at Colombo 05. Moderated by Mr.SamithaPrasannaarachchige, the eminent panel consisted of Rev. Borelle Athula Thero, Professor KusumaKarunarathne and Mr.Aththanayake Herath. A number of insightful topics were deliberated in depth by the distinguished panel, including the value of creating engaging and effective personal relationships and developing spirituality. The event drew in a large number of staff from across the group, who actively participated in the discussions through questions as well as sharing of experiences relating to effectively creating a balance between professional and personal lives.
As part of the Wesak ‘SadahamPrarthana’ program, a blood donation camp was also organized by the Group IT division of LAUGFS under the purview of the National Blood Bank. The camp drew in a large participation of volunteers from the LAUGFS Corporate Office and subsidiaries, who flocked in to the head office at Bambalapitiya to be a part of this noble act. Conducted for the third consecutive year, the LAUGFS Blood Donation Camp has firmly become a part of its annual event calendar.
While a number of other programs including the Wesakdansal was scheduled to take place throughout the month of May, the sudden devastation caused by the torrential floods and landslides to many Sri Lankans throughout the country, lead to a swift change in the programs by the company. Cancelling the remaining program schedule, all funds allocated were diverted to lend a helping hand to families affected by the severe floods.
“At LAUGFS, we have a strong value driven culture where we work together with a true family spirit. This Wesak season has been another perfect occasion for us to reinforce and strengthen those values, which was what drew us to organise this series of events under the ‘SadahamPrarthana’ concept,” commented LAUGFS Holding Director / Group CHRO, Dulani Nissanka. “Although we were compelled to alter the program unexpectedly, due to the sudden devastation that impacted hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankans, we are glad that we were still able to reinforce the same values that we initially set out to strengthen.”
