LAUGFS triumphs at the MBA Inter-Firm Team Badminton Championships 2015
A mere year after entering the Mercantile Badminton arena, LAUGFS has already begun its steady rise to glory, emerging division champions as well as clinching the title of best player of the division at the 32nd Mercantile Badminton Association’s Inter-Firm Team Badminton Championships2015.
The Men’s team of LAUGFS emerged winners of the ‘Mahesh Makalandawa& Samantha Jayawardena Challenge Trophy’, in the divisional finals against MAS Holdings, whilst team member Nirmal Ranatunga secured the title of Best Player of the Division. This triumph also qualifies the team to enter the next divisional level in the 2016 championship.
The winning team consisted of Mahesh Weerasena of LAUGFS Petroleum, Indika Gunawardena and Roshantha De Silva of Group IT / LAUGFS Holdings, Nalin Dissanayake of LAUGFS Eco Sri and Nirmal Ranathunga of LAUGFS Gas PLC. The Women’s team, which also participated in the tournament, was represented by NushraMusafar, Niluka Bandara andMelani Asirvatham.
Badminton is one of the many recreational activities organized by LAUGFS to promote a healthy and balanced work life for its employees through the LAUGFS Sports Club, which consists of members from across the Group.
