Leading Professionals Join CIC Group
CIC Holdings PLC has appointed Dinesh Weerakkody to the Board of Directors of CIC Holdings PLC as an Independent Non-Executive Director effective 12th February 2015. With the new appointment, the Board will now consist of eleven Directors of which five are Non-Executive Independent Directors. Amal Cabraal has also been appointed as the Non-Executive Chairman of CIC Feeds (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of CIC Holdings PLC effective as of 1st April 2015.
Joining CIC’s Board of Directors with a wealth of business management experience, Dinesh Weerakkody is currently the Chairman of HR Cornucopia Sri Lanka. He was the former Chairman of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and the Employees Trust Fund Board of Sri Lanka. He has also been a Director of DFCC Bank and has served on a variety of Government and private sector boards. Weerakkody is a Vice President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka Chapter. He is also a Council Member of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon and the Institute of Directors of Sri Lanka. Weerakkody was also Advisor to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2002 to 2004 and has served in many Cabinet Sub Committees and national level committees on economic affairs, international affairs and labour management.
Weerakkody is a graduate in Business Administration, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK, a Fellow Member of the Certified Management Accountant of Sri Lanka and a Professional Member of the Singapore Human Resource Institute and he has obtained an MBA from the University of Leicester. He is on the Sri Lankan Board of GlaxoSmithKline and is also a Director/Advisor of HR Cornucopia Bangalore. He also serves as a Director on the Boards of Hemas Holdings PLC, Ceylon Tobacco PLC and Access Engineering PLC.
With his extensive management experience Amal Cabraal has been contributing to the growth of well-reputed local and global companies across a variety of industries for decades. Cabraal is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Sri Lanka and has over three decades of experience in general management, marketing and sales in Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, India and Bangladesh. He is an Alumnus of INSEAD-France and holds a MBA from the University of Colombo, he is also a Chartered Marketer by profession and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, U.K.
Amal Cabraal also serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director of John Keells Holdings PLC, Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC, Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, S A Silva & Sons and also serves on the Supervisory Board of Associated Motorways Ltd. He is also a committee member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Management Committee of the Mercantile Services Provident Society.
