Becomes the first in the industry to receive the recognition

Swisstek Aluminium Ltd., established in 2009, is a subsidiary of Lanka Walltiles PLC which comes under the reputed Vallibel One PLC Group. It has established itself as the leading environmentally friendly manufacturer of anodised, powder-coated, and mill-finished aluminium extrusions in Sri Lanka, with a reputation for high-quality products, innovation, and commitment to excellence.

Swisstek Aluminium, one of Sri Lanka’s leading Aluminium Profile Manufacturers, has always kept up strict adherence to recognized international standards and recently, the company was awarded the prestigious ISO 50001:2018 certification for their Energy Management System (EnMS) by Sri Lanka Standards Institute, thus becoming the first in the industry to secure it.

ISO 50001 is the international standard introduced by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2011 to standardise the process of implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system (EnMS). The standard is helpful for organisations tomaximise the use of energy sources and energy related assets, thereby reducing both energy consumption and cost.

ISO 50001 (EnMS) is hailed worldwide as an effective solution to global energy issues and as experts estimate, it has potential to reduce global energy usage by 60%. Especially considering the current energy crisis in Sri Lanka, Swisstek Aluminium has effectively fulfilled its responsibility as a corporate citizen by implementing and maintaining energy systems in accordance with ISO 50001: 2018 standards.

Speaking of receiving the ISO 50001:2018 certification, Tharindu Atapattu, CEO of Swisstek Aluminium said ‘‘A key pillar of our success in the industry is our commitment to ethical and responsible business conduct with much emphasis on people and planet. Therefore, receiving the ISO 50001:2018 is a significant achievement for us and the credit for this should definitely go to the passionate team behind it. As we continuously set the benchmark for the industry, I must say that we are proud to be the first in the industry receive this certification’’

The company has made significant investment into adopting a sustainable energy management system over a long period of time and one such recent investment was the implementation of a solar energy system of 3,340 photovoltaic panels at an expense of Rs. 156.5 million.  Swisstek Aluminium is strategically positioned to keep up these efforts and reap growing benefits continuously into the future.
