CA Sri Lanka empowers 2022 Advanced Level top ten with scholarships to pursue Chartered Accounting
In continuing to recognise and support exceptionally talented students, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) this week invested in the country’s future by empowering the island’s top ten at the 2022 GCE Advanced Level exam (commerce stream) with scholarships to embark on a professional journey to become world class Chartered Accountants.
The scholarships were awarded to the outstanding ten students by Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, President of CA Sri Lanka, in the presence of Mr. Nuwan Withanage, Chairman of the Student Enrollment Committee, as well as parents, teachers, and principals.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bandara said that CA Sri Lanka is thrilled to recognise and reward the extraordinary achievements of the students who have excelled at the 2022 A/L exam. “CA Sri Lanka which is recognised as the preferred destination for accounting education in the country has been synonymous with producing exceptionally talented and versatile Chartered Accountants, and we firmly believe in investing in the next generation of future business leaders who will inculcate the necessary technical skills and business acumen to steer forward corporate Sri Lanka.”
The scholarship recipients were: Ms P. K. K. D. Tharushika of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo 7, Mr E. G. P. H. Weerawansha of Ehaliyagoda Central College, Mr J. I. D. Methwan of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo 07, Mr D. J. L. L. Manamperi of Horana Sripalee College, Ms S. M. R. D. Senanayake of Buddhist Girls’ College, Kirimatiyana, Ms M. J. S. Rodrigo of Musaeus College, Colombo 07, Ms H. E. S. K. Somarathna of Weera Keppetipola Central College, Matale, Ms P. S. R. Peeris of Ehaliyagoda Central College, Ms D. A. Wickremeratne of Holy Family Convent, Colombo 04 and Mr W. K. S. Dulsen of Ananda College, Colombo 10.
CA Sri Lanka’s contemporary curriculum is known to shape revolutionary Chartered Accountants by instilling strong business intelligence, IT, and leadership skills to help lead the corporate world both here and abroad. Students who follow the CA programme have the option of exiting as a Certified Business Accountant (CBA), Certified Corporate Accountant (CCA), or as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), which is the benchmark qualification offered by CA Sri Lanka and recognised globally.
CA Sri Lanka is also the only professional body in South Asia to have a unique agreement with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which offers a dual membership pathway for CA students, enabling them to hold membership of both CA Sri Lanka and ICAEW simultaneously at the successful conclusion of the CA programme, enabling enhanced international mobility with double the success.
