CA Sri Lanka Kandy branch gets new look with enhanced facilities for Chartered Accountants and students
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) on Wednesday unveiled its newly relocated and revamped Central Province Branch in Kandy which will benefit thousands of its Chartered Accountants as well as existing and prospective students in the Central Province.
The relocated branch at Peradeniya Road, Kandy has been boosted with a variety of new services and facilities including a members’ lounge, auditorium, free Wi-Fi facilities, access to CPD seminars and webinars, a Multimedia English Language Centre, newly equipped IT learning centre, online IT exams, as well as standard student related services including registration of new students and a study pack counter.
The branch was ceremoniously declared open by President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Sanjaya Bandara and Vice President Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, in the presence of Immediate Past President Mr. Manil Jayesinghe, Council Members Ms. Anoji De Silva and Mr. Tishan Subasinghe and Chief Executive Officer Ms. Dulani Fernando and other invitees.
The newly relocated and revamped branch is part of CA Sri Lanka’s continuing effort to offer upgraded services and facilities for its existing students, and Chartered Accountants as well as future students living in the Central Province, to save them the hassle of travelling all the way to Colombo to obtain services from the Institute.
Mr. Sanjaya Bandara said that the decision to upgrade the Institute’s branches island-wide stems from a broader outlook where CA Sri Lanka is looking at providing enhanced services for both members and students in their home cities. “In an era of remote working, we must understand the requirements of our stakeholders, and provide them with easier access to enhance their skills and knowledge without having to travel all the way to Colombo. Hence, I am hopeful that this newly relocated Kandy branch will help serve these important purposes.”
According to him in the past the CA Sri Lanka branches located in Matara, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Jaffna, and Kalmunai were confined to student centric services, but with the revamping of the branches first in Matara and now Kandy, CA Sri Lanka is geared to provide enhanced services for its students as well as members.
In her speech, Ms. Dulani Fernando said that since 1959, CA Sri Lanka has stayed true to its standing as the National Body of Accountants and have ensured that it provides access to a global qualification to every Sri Lankan youth, be it in the city or village. “Our ultimate vision is to ensure youth from every level of society have equal access to a recognised professional qualification without having to go overseas or spend foreign exchange,” she said.
Ms. Fernando added that CA Sri Lanka will continue to upgrade the remaining branches island wide with enhanced services and facilities in the near future for the benefit of its members and students located island wide.
