CA Sri Lanka signs MoU with University of Jaffna’s Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Jaffna.
The MoU signed by President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Manil Jayesinghe and Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah aims to establish a cooperative relationship to develop and foster academic links between the two institutions.
The agreement will pave way for CA Sri Lanka and the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce to strengthen the relationship between both institutions, while also sharing resources and facilitate students and lecturers of both institutions to participate in seminars and workshops to help them upgrade their knowledge in relation to the accountancy profession.
In its standing as the national body of accountants, CA Sri Lanka will also offer scholarships and awards for best performance students at the university to recognise them in the field of accountancy.
Mr. Jayesinghe said that both, the University of Jaffna and CA Sri Lanka has contributed immensely towards supporting Sri Lanka’s vision of a skilled nation. “Chartered Accountants produced in Sri Lanka are recognised and are in demand overseas as well as in Sri Lanka. But the world we operate in is increasingly facing new challenges, ranging from technology, regulations to even the ongoing pandemic, and amidst this backdrop, it is important for us to continue to develop our profession, if we are to remain relevant,” he said.
Therefore, Mr. Jayesinghe stressed that there is an underlying need to strengthen the partnership between professional and academia which will help overcome future challenges.
“The coming together of the University of Jaffna’s Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and CA Sri Lanka sets the stage to ensure greater collaboration between professional and academia for a better future,” he said.
