CFA Society Sri Lanka holds Charter Award Ceremony and Annual Oration
CFA Society Sri Lanka recognized 52 individuals who successfully completed the CFA program at its Charter Awards Ceremony and Annual Oration 2022 which was held at Hilton Colombo Residences recently.
The occasion was graced by Mr. Viraj Dayaratne PC, Chairman, Securities, and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest, Mr. Dilshan Wirasekara, Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange as the Guest of Honor while Mr. Chanakya Dissanayake, CFA, Managing Director Investment Research & Country Head of Acuity Knowledge Partners Sri Lanka delivered the oration.
The CFA® designation is awarded by CFA Institute to those who have completed the CFA program, which is the highest distinction and the gold standard in the investment industry. The CFA charter is a globally recognized qualification and is held by over 190,000 professionals worldwide in 164 markets.
The CFA Program provides a strong foundation of advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills. The course of study is organized into three levels and each level requires passing a five-hour fifteen-minute exam. The program curriculum increases in complexity as you move through the three levels: The CFA Program bridges current practice, investment theory, and ethical and professional standards in shaping candidates to do investment analysis and portfolio management.
Mr. Dinesh Warusavitharana, CFA, President of CFA Society Sri Lanka congratulated the new batch of Charterholders and passed finalists, for the success achieved during an especially challenging period. He added that the completion of the CFA examination is the beginning of a very interesting and fulfilling journey, where you are at liberty to chart your own journey. Traditionally, CFA charterholders have largely worked in the investment management industry, but today we have CFA charterholders working across many different industries in varied roles.
Mr. Viraj Dayaratne PC, Chairman, Securities, and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka addressing the new charterholders emphasized the importance of corporate ethics and added “I have no doubt that both the CFA Society’s and the CFA Institute’s commitment towards professional ethics would guide you in the right direction.’’
Mr. Chanakya Dissanayake, CFA, Managing Director of Investment Research & Country Head of Acuity Knowledge Partners Sri Lanka congratulated the new Candidates who demonstrated an ability to compartmentalize and maintain their focus their ability and successfully complete the CFA program amidst numerous challenges and disruptions which took place. Chanakya drew on his experience in capital markets to highlight to the new charterholders on the learning opportunities presented by crisis situations. He advised those who are pursuing a career in financial markets to have an attitude of “Polite skepticism” of the received wisdom and the importance of using comparative data and critical thinking.
