There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up. The Student Committee of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka 2016, strongly believe in uplifting lives of people and drawing a smile on their faces. With a spirit of caring, the Student Committee of CIM Sri Lanka aims to give back to the community by joining hands with less privileged children in rural communities to support their education.
The social motive will be conducted under the theme ‘SMILE’. The Committee members will visit less privileged children at a junior school located in the Kurunegela district with the expectation of leaving a memorable footprint in their hearts of these less privileged children.
The President of the Student Committee, Malithi Herath, expressed her thoughts, “We as a team are quite enthusiastic and geared up to drive this initiative. Being a student committee representing an educational body, the committee feels it’s best to nurture and uplift the community within the domain of ‘Education’. We look forward to improving the education facilities of these children; change their lives and brighten them up with a SMILE”.
This initiative will be conducted on the 29th of October ,2016, where the team will engage with the students and provide the school and the students with the basic educational needs, Infrastructure development and various fun filled events will be a part of this initiative. Going beyond lending a helping hand to this underprivileged school, the committee will also entertain, inspire and take a step closer in brightening up their lives to create sustainability of the service.
The project Chairpersons Ashane Wadasinghe and Avanthi Perera commenting on the initiative stated “It is a great privilege and honour to be a part of this social initiative and give back to the society in the best way we could. We being a part of an educational body, truly realize the value of education, and the future of the less privilege children of this nation, and that is where this journey of ‘SMILES’ inaugurates. Beyond the initiative, we as a nation are one big family, responsible for each others happiness and every little thing we could give back to the society, will make a huge difference with a huge smile”.
