CIPM Sri Lanka Introduces 2 New Specialized Diploma Courses in HR
CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management introduced 2 new specialized diploma courses in HR to the market at a ceremony held at the CIPM Auditorium, “HR House” in Colombo 5 recently. The 2 new specialized HR courses that were launched were the Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health and the Diploma in Industrial Relations & Employment Law. These 2 diploma courses will help HR professionals to further specialize and hone their practical HR skills. Specialization adds significant value to HR professionals and students in the local and international market and will also be important in the context of the demand that will be created for HR professionals in the future.
President of CIPM – Jayantha Amarasinghe, CIPM Council Members, CIPM faculty, staff, and special invitees together with Chief Guest – Ms. Simrin Singh, Country Director for the ILO office, Dr. Olivia Nieveras, Acting World Health Organization Country Representative to Sri Lanka were present at the launching ceremony.

These specialized courses that we are launching today too are in response to a market requirement which has been thoroughly reviewed by our highly committed standing committee for Professional & Academic Affairs led by its chairman Mr. Neil Bogahalanda supported by Dr. Palipane and Prof. Sarveswaran” said Jayantha Amarasinghe – President, CIPM Sri Lanka.
“The course directors have structured the courses with the most appropriate curricula which address the market requirement. We will continuously engage with the market and the industry to understand what we can offer in pursuit of a much-needed human sustainable growth structure” he added.
“The two courses are the need of the day for the issue of the day and are critical in moving forward while addressing the whole new dimension of psychosocial wellbeing brought about by the global pandemic and the new normal where the world of work is upside down” said Chief Guest Ms. Simrin Singh, Country Director for the ILO office while congratulating CIPM for selecting the best resources and course directors.
“The mental health and wellbeing of people are critical at this juncture. It is appreciated that education courses covering these aspects are being introduced by CIPM to uplift the knowledge and competencies of HR professionals to solve the issue from an HR dimension. The ILO is having discussions with the government on these same lines. HR professionals should enroll in these courses and be the change-makers” she added.
Prof. A. Sarveswaran, Leader of the Syllabus Development Committee – Diploma in Industrial Relations & Employment Law and Dr. Wajira Palipane, Leader of the Syllabus Development Committee – Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health were also felicitated at the launch ceremony appreciating their commitment and key role in designing and developing the courses and the curricula.
