European Union awards scholarships under its Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree programme
As part of continuing support to the learning and development of Sri Lankan students, the European Union (EU) Delegation to Sri Lanka is proud to announce the award of 13 scholarships under the European Union’s Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree programme. The degree programmes are tailored to help address critical issues facing our societies and equip students with knowledge, which transitions them from the classroom to the workplace. A unique feature of these scholarships is that students will study in at least two European countries and three universities, receiving a joint Master’s degree from each of these universities.
This year’s scholarship awards cover ten areas of study, including urban climate and sustainability, tropical biodiversity and ecosystems, flood risk management, and marine environment in five European countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and the UK. Scholarship winners will experience the international learning environments of universities in European cities such as Bologna, Brussels, Glasgow, Bordeaux, and Dresden.
Speaking at a pre-departure meeting held at the EU Delegation, H.E. Ambassador Denis Chaibi encouraged the students to make the most of their opportunities. Studying overseas can be a highly rewarding experience, aside from the knowledge you gain in the classroom. It impacts your career as well as your personal development by challenging and broadening your understanding of how much the way we learn is shaped by the way we live. You will understand other countries, other societies in a profound and unique way. You will get to know at least two European countries and will receive a Master’s degree from at least three universities if you study well. I wish you the very best of luck”.
The Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree programme is a prestigious international study programme which provides funding for learning mobility of individuals through an international consortium of higher education institutions. The programme aims to help individual learners acquire skills and boost their competencies by getting exposure to various top class universities in Europe.
