IPM Opens 3rd Regional Center in Kurunegala
IPM – the Nation’s leader in human resources management – opened its 3rd Regional Center in Kurunegala amidst a large and distinguished gathering including chief guest Prof. S. B. J. A. Jayasekera – Vice Chancellor of the Wayamba University and Rohitha Amarapala-President IPM Sri Lanka on 18th September 2015 to cater to the growing demand for human resources education in the North Western province. Kurunegala is one of the fastest growing provincial cities outside of Colombo with an abundance of young and aspiring youth who have the potential to contribute significantly to Sri Lanka’s industrial and economic growth. The IPM Kurunegala Regional Center is located on the 6th Floor – Jayawansha Building, No. 64, Colombo Road, Kurunegala, and is situated facing the main Colombo – Kurunegala road and has easy access from the Kurunegala main bus stand as well as from the Colombo – Puttalam road. Kurunegala is a major hub in the North-Western province which has much potential to offer in terms of HR professionals and students who are keen to make human resources management their life career. An education institution of the caliber of IPM can add much value to Kurunegala and its suburbs.
“In keeping with our mission to open pathways to the human resources management profession and raising of professional standards through a process of conducting professional examinations, seminars/workshops, conferences, HR consultancy and research studies, we are delighted to open IPM’s 3rd Regional Center for the benefit of this rapidly growing township of Kurunegala and suburbs” said Rohitha Amarapala – President, IPM Sri Lanka.
“Students as well as HR professionals in and around Kurunegala will be able to easily access our Regional Center for all of their needs without having to come down to Colombo thus saving them time as well as money. We believe that opening IPM’s Regional Center in Kurunegala will provide a great opportunity for the thousands of students in Wayamba to access our world class curricula and facilities in order to pursue a career in human resources management” he added.
Addressing the large number of dignitaries who were present at the opening ceremony, Chief Guest Prof. Jayasekera said that he was thankful to IPM for opening its Regional Center in Kurunegala.
“IPM Sri Lanka is a very professional and progressive institute which is going from strength to strength. Its popularity amongst HR professionals as well as students is extremely high. I am confident that as a growing and successful institution, IPM will continue to breed success while adding value to the field of human resources management in Sri Lanka” he added.
IPM’s Kurunegala Regional Center provides the same standards, courses and examinations as the other regional centers in Kandy and Galle, and will include comprehensive study & lecture programmes conducted by visiting HR faculty. Seminars and workshops for students as well as HR professionals are planned on an ongoing basis. Other facilities such as a modern library stocked with the latest books and journals, air conditioned lecture halls and canteen facilities etc are also available.
IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuously with the business community to share experiences, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession.
IPM was founded in 1959 and was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976. IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Association. IPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently IPM comprises of over 900 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations.
