Mummy& Me Cook-Off Returns to Waters Edge
If there’s one thing in the world that mums and kids love to do, its cook together. In fact research has found that this is one way to enhance a lifetime bond between mother and child. It is also one of the greatest ways to pass down family recipes from generation to generation.
Taking this tradition to centre stage Waters Edge, the favourite suburban hotel on the outskirts of Colombo together with the 100% Sri Lankan produced Pelwatte Dairy will stage the second edition of the “Mummy& Me Cook-Off” on Sunday 21st May 2017. The event which was conceptualized and brought to life for the first time last year featured six mother-daughter duos whobattled it out at the Grand Final. The mother-daughter team of Shanaka and Amandi cooked-off their way to kitchen supremacy showcasing a skillfully and tastefully put together dish of their own creation.
This year after much entreating from young boys who enjoy the art of cooking, Waters Edge has extended the invitation to mums and sons as well. Six teams will be chosen and expected to use Pelwatte Dairy’s all natural products to create a recipe of their own fit for a MasterChef-style competition.
Partnering with Waters Edge on this event Pelwatte Dairy will provide their range of dairy products including butter, yoghurt, ice-cream and liquid milk for the teams to use. All teams will also be equipped with specially designed cooking units created by Euro Kitchen.Beko will provide all kitchen appliances for the teams to cook-off in style. The social media partner for the event is Novitat Media while the official radio station will be TNL Radio
An eminent panel of judges will grade the teams based on taste, presentation, portion size, technique and timing. In true international culinary competition style teams will be given one hour to cook and present their masterpiece.
The winning duo will walk away with the prestigious cook-off trophy and gifts from Pelwatte Dairy, Beko and other sponsors.
Families and friends are invited to come cheer on their teams as they battle it out for kitchen supremacy. A galore of food stalls and action stations will ensure that even the spectators get a taste of what’s cooking. Tickets will be priced at 1,000 rupees for adults and 500 rupees for kids.
