Tharindu Ameresekere Launches TOFSYM – A Book on Public Speaking without Preparation
Toastmasters public speaking champion Tharindu Ameresekere launched his first publication TOFSYM – Think on Feet & Speak Your Mind dedicated to Impromptu Speaking on the 2nd of November 2018. The event was held at the Mango Tree Lounge amidst a selected group of invitees.
Tharindu is currently a senior lecturer specialising in Business Economics and Enterprise Management in a leading higher education institute in Sri Lanka and also the Founder/CEO of Branding Agency TAC. His latest venture into corporate training and development is Dan and Ken. He is a certified NLP coach focused on enhancing positive thinking and positive communication of executives and managers.
The book is a unique publication dedicated to the fine art of speaking without preparation and Tharindu has shared the techniques he developed that enabled him to be crowned as the Champion for District 82 (Consisting of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu, India) in 2015.
He has made the content relevant to both public speaking competitions as well as day to day corporate communication moments such as presentations, meetings and interviews.
The audience was addressed by some of the esteemed guests including, DTM Arunasalem Balraj the Immediate Past International President of Toastmasters International, Sarma Mahalingam the Program Quality Director for District 82 and Jehan Mubarak the current International Relations Officer for Round Table Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the event Tharindu mentioned about his journey and how his travelling experiences for work and Round Table events have given him international public speaking experience. He also spoke on the journey behind the book which started off after being knocked out of the finals in 2014 to being crowned a champion in 2015. He paid tribute to his late mentors and teachers Ian and Pearl De Mel, T M Ananda Chittambalam and also his two Toastmasters Clubs, The Millennium Toastmasters and the Colombo Toastmasters.
