Cinnamon Citadel Kandy is honoured to announce its recent achievement at the National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Awards 2022, where the resort secured the prestigious Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) award under Tourism, Hotels & Restaurant, and related services category. The ceremony was organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour & Foreign Employment.
The resort implements proactive safety measures on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis, aligning with its overarching goal of prioritizing employee well-being and fostering a holistic work culture. The introduction of the 100% Passion HSE concept under the Cinnamon Care 2.0 program reflects pillars such as Employee Well-being, Accident-Free Environment, Food Safety Practices, Legal Compliance, and Audit Compliance. Having been OHSAS 18001 certified since 2008 and ISO 45001 certified since 2018, Cinnamon Citadel Kandy continually enhances its Occupational Health and Safety culture, evidenced by a reduction in non-conformances during internal and external audits.
The awards program seeks to acknowledge organisations and individuals demonstrating commendable Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards in the country. The rigorous evaluation process for the National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Awards 2022 involved desk reviews, field verifications, and expert reviews. Unannounced site visits by experienced safety practitioners further validated Cinnamon Citadel Kandy’s commitment to health and safety across various operational areas, including water safety, building safety, food safety, fire safety, chemical safety, electrical safety, staff training, awareness, and management commitment.
