Nawaloka Hospitals marks Poson Poya day with Bakthi Gee
Sri Lankan healthcare leader Nawaloka Hospitals PLC officially observed Poson Poya day by conducting an evening of Poson Bakthi Gee within the hospital’s premises this past Sunday.
Poson full moon Poya day marks the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BC. It is a festival of great historical and religious significance celebrated by Buddhists island-wide.
The Bakthi Gee program, whose Chief Guest was Nawaloka Holdings Chairman Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, was organised in collaboration with the OSCA and Cinestar foundations. These prominent institutions work to empower the Sri Lankan music and cinema industry while fostering an attitude of peace and happiness between all Sri Lankans.
The evening, which also featured a Dansala for the roughly 1200 people in attendance, saw a number of notable musical stars from Cinestar and OSCA, performing a medley of religious songs in commemoration of the Poson full moon Poya day. These celebrated artistes included Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe, T.M. Jayaratne, Edwerd Jayakodi, Samantha Perera, Janaka Wickramasinghe, Deepika Priyadarshani, Sriyani Amarasena, Yashoda Wimaladharma, Damitha Abyeratne, Pubudu Chathuranga, Charitha Priyadarshani, Nilanthi Dias, Udari Perera, Dayan Vitharana, Saranga Disasekara, Shalani Tharaka, Manjula Kumari and Dinakshi Priyasad.
