Collaboration Designer Homeware Collection launched by Pendi
‘Pendi’, a design-based consultancy that offers a curated collection of interior products by a group of young designers, recently showcased a sneak peak at their Christmas Homeware Collection at Café Kumbuk, to meet the Christmas rush. The exclusive preview was well-attended by well-wishers and local designers in support of the unique collection and collaboration.
The Exclusive Christmas Collection is inspired by the marriage between nature and modernism, bringing together the best of what Sri Lanka has to offer in terms of material, design, product and service. It is this inspiration that has resulted in the collaboration of up-and-coming designers, SALT and Ena Designs – spearheaded by Pendi.
Pendi has, as of lately been at the forefront of bespoke homeware design, redefining the meaning of tailor-made homeware through curated natural art and design experiences which also support local suppliers. The newest collection, brings together classic homeware designs, by SALT creating exciting new batik inspired items to complement the collection. Add to that, pristine elegance and minimalism to match the millennial mindset, with aw-inspiring homeware by Ena Designs – the two [02] designers, along with Pendi are set to become (literal) household names following the official launch of their Christmas Homeware Collection.
Commenting at the Christmas Collection preview, Owner, Pendi – Natalie Pendigrast, “We take a lot of pride in the fact that all of our products are designed and made in Sri Lanka, supporting both the designers and local tradesmen, while taking advantage of skills and materials that are mostly unique to Sri Lanka. Through inimitable collaborations with up-and-coming designers, we at Pendi look to push the boundaries of homeware design bringing Sri Lanka to the design forefront. All of our products are part of a limited collection which we hope will evolve and develop into a truly unique homeware range.”
Pendi also offers a bespoke design service on selected orders, currently orders are undertaken directly, with a showroom and website scheduled to be opened in a few short months.
Concluding on the opportunity the showcase has presented, Owner, Ena Designs – Ena Naseem, “It’s clear that Natalie and the team at Pendi have a vision, and that vision has given designers such as myself the opportunity to be truly inspired. The designs showcased today, for most of us have been in development for at least five [05] years, and it is truly amazing to see our designs come to life.
It is an incredibly exciting time for the design industry. Sri Lanka is in its infancy within its design life cycle and now is the time for Design Entrepreneurs such as myself, to take a step forward and make our mark on the industry.”
Attendees at the event received exclusive gift bags with designer homeware items and were able to purchase items on display, many of which were sold out before the end of the night. In true design and art nature, each attendee left feeling rejuvenated, with minds invigorated and their thirst for art and design quenched.
