Colombo gears up for more Cycle Fun
The popular Colombo Cycle Fun Ride, organised by the Pedal Pushers Club, and sponsored by E FM, is returning for its fourth successful year. Now a well-established event in Colombo’s ever-expanding social calendar, 2015’s Colombo Cycle Fun Ride will officially kick-off at 7.00 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, at the Race Course, with around 700 riders of all ages expected to take part this year too.
Again, this year’s course will wind around several Colombo landmarks, so the riders from different age categories; namely kids, young adults and adults, are sure to get the most out of the 24KM track, garnering both fun and health benefits from this very unique experience. In addition, the fun does not begin or end with the cycle ride itself, with a number of stalls, including food, games, etc., adding to the festival atmosphere of the event. The event will also feature a very special stall by E FM, as in previous years, which will offer great music and fun activities to keep the audience entertained throughout. And, most important of all, proceeds from all activities associated with the Colombo Cycle Fun Ride will go towards the National Cancer Hospital in Maharagama.
Commenting, E FM Programme Director Mark Kross said, “As Sri Lanka’s Lifestyle station, we are proud to once again sponsor the Colombo Cycle Fun Ride, now in its fourth year. It is especially heartening for us to see this event growing in popularity since we were one of the first sponsors to come on board when it was initially held, and we are glad to have helped it expand in both audience numbers and scope, with this year’s event expecting around 700 riders of all ages.”
Adding to this, EBC Radio Chief Operating Officer Chalaka Gajabahu said, “The Colombo Cycle Fun Ride is not just a bicycle ride around the city of Colombo. At its heart, it is a truly innovative concept, mixing family fun with exercise and entertainment. As such, we recognised the value of this first-in-Sri Lanka concept when it launched three years ago and got involved from the very beginning. We are happy with the continuing success of this event, and look forward to partnering with its organiser, the Pedal Pushers Club, on more similarly innovative events in the future.”
