Lankem Robbialac colours Jaffna Cancer Hospital
The Northern Province of Sri Lanka, notably the city of Jaffna, has rapidly re-emerged into mainstream society and fast gained importance as a vibrant social, tourist and economic hub.
With a great deal of economic activity taking place, Lankem Robbialac was honoured to actively support the re-building of the Northern Province with the excellence and range of its portfolio of paints.
As part of its CSR initiative, Lankem Ceylon PLC gifted the total consignment of paint required for the entire Jaffna Cancer Hospital. Situated at Tellippalai, this 120 bed hospital caters to the hundreds of cancer patients in the Northern Province. Among the Lankem products used in the painting of the hospital were Emulsion, Enamel, Weathercoat, Candis (an expensive special effects paint), Anticorrosive Paints, Aluminium Wood Primer and more.
Director Lankem Ceylon PLC Ruwan T. Weerasinghe said, “The predominant colour used was white and this was interspersed with pleasing neutral shades. They are both pleasing to the eye and calming to the mind. We are indeed humbly proud to be able to bring happiness through our colours to the lives of the many hundreds of cancer patients using this facility”.
Lankem Robbialac was also the main paint supplier to the Jaffna Railway Station which was restored and re-opened to the public after 30 years. Among the Lankem products used in the restoration process were Wallkote, Wall Filler, Skimkote, Brilliant White Emulsion and Marble Grey Weathercoat.
“We’re proud to have been chosen to colour this key landmark in the city of Jaffna. Considered one of the main nerve centres in the North which links the province to the rest of the country, the Jaffna Railway Station sees thousands of people pass through its doors every day. This building is one that is constantly exposed to smoke, dust and lots of wear and tear. We thus used special formulated products which will protect the building and maintain its new look for a longer period of time. Lankem Robbialac enjoys a great reputation for the excellence of its quality and the strength of its reliability. This heavy duty building is now in good hands with Lankem paints”, Weerasinghe said.
He also said that a large number of houses, apartments and condominiums have been built in the Northern province since the end of the war. “In this context it has been very encouraging to note that most of the local residents have opted for Lankem Robbialac paints to colour their living spaces. The relationship we have built with these customers is strong and lasting”.
“With more than three decades of colouring the nation, we are proud to be one of Sri Lanka’s leading paints manufacturers and one that is entirely home grown. This is the unique heritage we’re happy to share with our customers. Our journey has been long and eventful as we have coloured the lives of tens of thousands of Sri Lankans across the country covering many generations”, Weerasinghe added.
