Advertising Veteran Ranil de Silva receives highest honour at IAA World Congress
Making Sri Lanka proud, Ranil de Silva, Sri Lanka’s best-known and highly-acclaimed advertising personality, was bestowed with the highest honour at the IAA Inspire Awards – an Honorary Life Membership Award – for his valuable contribution to the industry. The ad industry veteran has not only raised the bar for the agencies he led, but also worked tirelessly to afford opportunities to other professionals in the field. Widely acknowledged as a champion of creativity, Ranil left no stone unturned to champion any creative cause. His latest creative pursuit was the much celebrated ‘Petal Paint’ campaign which reflects how creativity can have a favourable sustainable impact. As the Founder of IAA Sri Lanka, Ranil has entrenched the body in the local ad industry and demonstrated its commitment to educating advertising professionals within the Sri Lanka market.
This year’s IAA Inspire Awards were held as part of the 44th IAA World Congress held in Kochi, India. The IAA World Congress is a biannual conclave where the spotlight is trained on the communications industry in every form. World leaders in their respective area of expertise come to set forth their grand vision for the near future and professionals who are real influencers in marketing, brand management and the media form an ideal audience.
This year’s IAA Honorary Life Membership Award paid tribute to three venerable members from IAA Chapters besides Ranil de Silva who founded IAA Sri Lanka. The other recipients of the 2018 Honorary Life Membership Awards were Khamis Al Muqla, President – Gulf Marcom, Bahrain and Mihail Vartosu, Founder – IAA Romania.
