Binance Academy hosts first Web3 and Crypto workshop in Sri Lanka
Binance Academy, a leading blockchain and cryptocurrency education platform, recently held its first ever training workshop in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT). The workshop is part of the Binance Academy University Tour initiative, launched to broaden Web3 educational efforts and drive crypto literacy amongst students by hosting webinars and conducting training on campus.
The 2-hour workshop, attended by more than 80 students from the institute, was delivered by subject-matter experts from Binance Academy. Topics include the fundamentals of Web3 concepts, NFT technologies and the local use cases of blockchain technology in public and private sectors in addition to the opportunity to build on their coding skills
Leon Foong, Head of APAC at Binance, said: “As we enter the age of Web3, it becomes increasingly apparent that education is key when it comes to both consumer protection and adoption and we believe we have a key role to play in building the foundations around blockchain and crypto literacy. We also hope to foster confidence and increase opportunities for youths who are interested in entering the Web3 space by making content more accessible.”
The Binance Academy University Tour initiative reiterates Binance’s ongoing commitment to increasing Web3 and crypto literacy globally. In 2022, Binance partnered with the Inter-Institutional Inclusive Innovation Centre (i4c) to initiate the ‘Blockchain for Good’ Ideathon for Indian students. Earlier that year, Binance also hosted a free Web3 webinar called “Crypto for All”, in collaboration with Indian finance influencers. Moving forward, Binance will continue to bolster its Web3 educational efforts and spearhead initiatives to strengthen fundamental understanding of crypto and blockchain in the region.
