Ceylinco Life honours its highflyers for stellar performances in 2014
Outstanding career success achieved through Olympian – like commitment and effort was honoured in gala style at the annual awards of Ceylinco Life recently, when the life insurance leader rewarded its top achievers of 2014 for their contribution to the company’s growth.
A total of 173 awards in the form of certificates, medals, trophies and overseas holidays was presented at this glamorous event. More than 1,300 members of the company’s sales team were in the audience at the BMICH to cheer on their highflying colleagues.
Addressing the event, Ceylinco Life Managing Director and CEO R. Renganathan said the company had retained its leadership of Sri Lanka’s life insurance sector for the 11th consecutive year in 2014, and contributed Rs 1,300 million to the net profit of Rs 2,143 million of Ceylinco Insurance. Recalling some of the challenges the company had overcome in its chequered history, he said 2014 had brought even more challenges, but Ceylinco Insurance had prevailed and prospered.
“Ceylinco Life has always emphasised the importance of professionalism, integrity and passion to its employees, and the results are evident,” he said, pointing out that the company had produced a record 41 qualifiers to the Million Dollar Round Table despite the challenges it had faced in 2014.”
In his address, the Chief Guest John Cardus, Head of Global Underwriting – Life and Health at Swiss-Re Services Ltd. UK stressed the importance and value of partnerships between insurers and reinsurers to face the complex and rapid changes taking place in the world. Life insurance continues to be poorly understood and undervalued in many countries, and the protection gap remains massive, he said. Companies would have to focus on sustainable and affordable products and new distribution channels in their efforts to close this gap.
Many of the award winners at the awards gala received overseas tours to Bangkok and luxury ocean cruises in addition to cash prizes. Branch Sales Heads, Unit Heads and Sales Consultants who performed exceptionally well from all districts in Sri Lanka were honoured, for individual as well as team performances.
The top award winners were: Best Branch Head – Mr S Dharshan of the Colombo North 01 branch; Best Unit Head – Ms T Shopana of the Nelliaddy Branch and Best Sales Consultant – A I P Manjula of the Ambalantota 02 Branch.
