Chairman of Sun Match Company Deshamanya Suri Rajan does Sri Lanka proud
Sri Lanka challenged globally due to economic and political stability, witnessed one of its true sons-Deshamanya Suri Rajan been awarded the coveted Rotary “Service above self” award, which is an award given to a selected group of 150 outstanding people, chosen among the globe of 1.3 million Rotarians who have given their life to ‘serving humanity’ and are examples for others to follow.
Hailing from the hill capital- Kandy, Suri Rajan is a respected philanthropist from the Rotary Club of Kandy, who went onto become the Rotary Governor for Sri Lanka in 2009-2010. Over the years he has greatly contributed towards the Rotary Foundation to address the key humanitarian issues globally, be it eradicating polio, malaria or cervical cancer, giving pure water to communities, or educating the poor, to name a few. He now belongs to an exclusive community of Rotarian called Arch Klump Society members. Deshamanya Suri was also on the central committee of Rotary for ‘Stopping the Spread of Covid-19 virus’ that won a global award by Rotary International.
