CIPM SL National HR Conference 2019 on 17th and 18th September
CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management will inaugurate its annual flagship event “The National Human Resource Conference” (NHRC) on 17th and 18th September 2019 at the BMICH in Colombo under the exciting and time relevant theme “Radically Reinvented Reality. A well laid out agenda has been lined up with multiple keynote addresses and time relevant sessions conducted by eminent local and foreign experts in human resource management and business. Over 1200 delegates from Sri Lanka, as well as overseas, are expected to participate at the Conference. The opening keynote address will be delivered by Bob Morton – Secretary General, World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) Bristol, United Kingdom – on “HR Mega Trends for a New Era.”
“The National HR Conference 2019 has special significance as it is the 1st such Conference being held after the receipt of the Charter Status. The theme of this year’s Conference aims to transform and position HR in a new paradigm taking into consideration the changes being experienced which are being brought about by new, disruptive technology and lifestyle changes which are all fundamentally affecting the workplace and how we work. This is indeed a radically reinvented reality which needs to be harnessed by HR professionals and business leaders in order to take HR, and through it the organizations, into the next paradigm” said Dhammika Fernando-President, CIPM Sri Lanka.
“We have taken utmost care to select the most appropriate theme and selected a list of eminent speakers who are highly qualified and experienced to share their insights into various HR aspects of the digital economy. The participants at the Conference can look forward to a most knowledge rich paradigm shift over the course of the two days” said Ajith Bopitiya-Chairman of the CIPM NHRC 2019 Organizing Committee and Honorary Treasurer-CIPM Sri Lanka.
The proceedings of Day 1 of the CIPM NHRC 2019 will begin at 1.30 pm on 17th September with the CIPM Great HR Practices event soon after the registration of participants. The Great HR Practices event will showcase the unique HR practice which contributed significantly to achieving the goals and objectives of the organization by the winner of the competition, and will be moderated by Rajee Ravichandran –Trainer/HR Consultant. This will be followed by the finals of the Great HR Debate 2019 which will be moderated by Group Captain Manoaj Keppetipola. After that, the keynote address on the topic “HR Mega Trends for a New Era” will be delivered by Bob Morton. The Ceremony to award, honor and recognize the winner of the CIPM Lifetime Gold Award for the HR Professional who made the most significant contribution to uplift and empower the HR profession to take it to the next level in Sri Lanka and the region will follow.
Day 2 of the CIPM NHRC 2019 will open with a keynote address by Suresh Surenthiran, Direct report to Director for Digital Strategy & Special Projects at University of Applied Science and Arts, Academy of Art and Design, Northwestern Switzerland on “Empowering Employees Digitally – A Performance Powerhouse” which will be moderated by Ken Vijayakumar – Honorary. Secretary, CIPM Sri Lanka. The keynote address will be followed by two concurrent elective sessions.
The first concurrent session will be electives on “Designing Agile Organizations – HR’s Role in Powering the Future of Work” by Aarthy Arunasalam – Employment Lead of IFC’s Women in Work Program in Sri Lanka, “Spirituality: Spirituality and workplace dynamism – a blend for success” by Rajesh Kumar C Jain one of greatest spiritual leaders from India and “HR and Environment – Challenges and Solutions” by Uchita De Zoysa – Author and a frontline leader shaping global sustainability transformation discourse.
The second concurrent session will be electives on “Digitalization: Digital HR has taken HR by storm” by Dinesh Saparamadu, Founder and Chairman of hSenid Group of Companies, “Spirituality: Power of mindfulness at work” by Deepal Sooriyaarachchi Management Consultant, Trainer, Author, Speaker, Accredited Master Coach and Mentor, and “Environment: Role of Women in promoting a green planet” by Ms. Carmen Niethammer – Global Gender/Diversity and Inclusion Leader and Program Manager – Women in Work.
The concurrent sessions will be followed by a master class conducted by Ms. Shanthi Naresh Senior Consultant of Mercer on the topic “Practical advice to modern HR practitioners in changing times.”
The CIPM Sri Lanka NHRC 2019 Conference will conclude with a closing keynote address on the topic “New HR paradigm – A Radically, Reinvented, Reality.”
The CIPM National HR Exhibition which showcases various solutions and vendor presentations will be held alongside the Conference enabling the delegates to get a glimpse of HR related solutions available in the market.
CIPM was founded in 1959 – incorporated by Parliamentary Act No. 24 of 1976, amended by Act No. 31 of 2018. CIPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resource Management and to the World Federation of People Management Associations. CIPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently, CIPM comprises of over 1300 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations. It was elevated to Chartered Status by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on the 28th of September 2018 by amending the original act of establishment.
