CIPM Sri Lanka Conducts Seasonal Programme for Corporate Staff
CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management conducted its popular Smart Corporate programme in December as part of its seasonal activities. This specifically targeted the supervisory staff and aspiring managers, and is one of the most popular programmes organized by the Consultancy Training & Development Division of CIPM Sri Lanka. It was conducted as a free session in appreciation of the Corporate Heads, CEOs, Directors and Department Heads who send nominations to CIPM Sri Lanka’s trainings and workshops, and was held at the Members’ Lounge of the CIPM Sri Lanka Head Office “HR House” in Colombo 5 as a half day session. It covered the areas of General Corporate Etiquette, Personal Hygiene and Grooming which are extremely important areas that need to be mastered by anyone and everyone.
“We regularly conduct corporate training workshops as part of our continuous learning and development initiatives in order to encourage staff to reach a higher level. In keeping with the seasonal cheer and upbeat sentiments, the programme was conducted free of charge” said Sarath Jayasinghe- Chairman, Consultancy, Training & Development Subcommittee of CIPM Sri Lanka.
“We encourage corporate decision makers to nominate and enroll their staff in continuous education and development programmes so that they can encourage and groom the next level” he added.
The session was facilitated by Kumar de Silva, the leading corporate trainer counting over 39 years of experience interacting with thousands of Corporates from diverse organizations across different layers in Sri Lanka’s multi-disciplined corporate sector. He shares his experiences gained both in Sri Lanka and France, with a wide range of soft skills to help the participants gain self-confidence, enhance their individual social performance levels, and navigate their personal role in a highly competitive corporate journey successfully. Kumar was the Official Trainer in Corporate Etiquette (Brand Sri Lanka) for Miss. World Sri Lanka (2015-2018) and for Miss. Universe Sri Lanka (2018). He has also trained several hundred school leavers and undergraduates, all of whom will aspire to be leaders of tomorrow.
The areas of general corporate etiquette including first impressions, body language, business card etiquette, successful networking in office, handling sexual harassment, handling difficult customers, and personal hygiene and grooming including makeup, accessories, office dress codes etc. were covered.

CIPM was founded in 1959 – incorporated by Parliamentary Act No. 24 of 1976, amended by Act No. 31 of 2018. CIPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resource Management and to the World Federation of People Management Associations. CIPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently, CIPM comprises of over 1600 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations. It was elevated to Chartered Status by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on the 28th of September 2018 by amending the original act of establishment.
