ikman Gears for Future Roadmap With New Leadership Team
ikman.lk, Sri Lanka’s largest online marketplace unveiled its newly structured professional team recently, complementing the company’s future roadmap in leading the organisation into the next growth phase.
Synonymous as the preferred website for buyers and sellers to transact almost anything, ikman.lk through its verticalization process, has identified major categories in terms of the Sri Lanka market in meeting particular customers’ needs in a specific category and ability to provide a dedicated experience.
“Our executive team combines expertise and experience, leveraging perspectives that we have acquired in the last few years with deep industry insight that has made us successful to date. As we celebrate six remarkable years of successful business operations, our new verticals will ensure ikman.lk continues to deepen our relationship with customers and strengthens our ability to understand consumer needs and engage them with better experiences,” said Alexander Löwbäck, Managing Director, ikman.lk.
To align the business towards projected strong growth in the coming years, ikman.lk has put together a leadership team comprising senior executives from within the company as well as recruiting highly talented individuals from outside to lead the six designated verticals – Marketplace, Vehicles, Property, Jobs, Banner Sales and iCompare.
Shabir Deen serves as the Director Marketplace, focusing on growing general electronics for classified advertisements and developing the ecommerce realm. Having joined ikman.lk in June 2018, Shabir oversees field sales, Marketplace and Buy now. He has several years experience in leading teams, project planning and execution within the software engineering and telecommunication sectors.
The ikman.lk vertical for vehicles will be led by Rimaz Marzook, Director Vehicles. Joining the company in September, Rimaz will continue to develop and grow business within the classified vehicles segment. He joins ikman.lk after completing his tenure at a leading manufacturer where he was the Head of Marketing. Rimaz brings over 20 years strong expertise in sales, marketing and customer management.
Chandima Wickrematunge serves as the Director Property developing property classifieds. He will also oversee ikman.lk’s new category New Developments providing customers’ information on comprehensive listings of apartment units or housing complexes under construction, assisting them pre-book their real estate of choice. ikman.lk’s new brokerage model for property will also be included in this vertical.
Set to join ikman.lk in August, Chandima has over 15 years of experience in retail marketing and sales. His previous roles include Head of e-commerce and Head of Marketing and Operations at leading blue chip companies.
Methsala Atthanayake as Senior Manager will lead the Jobs vertical. The ikman.lk’s job portal hosts several attractive features especially for corporates in helping them easily list and source suitable applicants. As a value addition, the jobs vertical will soon feature head-hunting capabilities. Methsala is well-versed in managing teams and clients. She has over a decade of stellar experience. Her dual expertise in finance and management will strengthen this vertical.
Among one of ikman.lk’s initial employees, Stefan Beekmeyer will serve as Director, Banner Sales. In his role Stefan will continue to drive banner sales and oversee sales and marketing at ikman.lk. The banner sales vertical provides enhanced benefits and value additions to customers by helping the seller with lead generation and programmatic banners. Stefan brings more than 25 years of experience in media marketing and sales.
Janaka Namaratne as Senior Manager for iCompare will strengthen the vertical which helps customers select the best deal through comparison of multiple proposals from service providers of motor insurance, leasing and personal loans and mortgages in a fast and convenient manner. Janaka joined ikman.lk in 2017 and possesses over 16 years of experience in handling operations for leading BPO and telecommunication organisations.
