Leading marketer and SANASA General Insurance’s Director Denzil Perera elected as the President of PIMA
Denzil Indrajith Perera, Director of SANASA General Insurance Company, a leading Life Insurance provider in Sri Lanka, has been elected as the President of the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni Association (PIMA).
The Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni Association (PIMA) includes alumni of Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM). Affiliated to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the PIM aims to encourage and support advanced education and professionalism in management in Sri Lanka through postgraduate instruction, training, research, and development in the various branches of management and administrative studies. It was established in 1986 by an Ordinance under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and is the only higher education entity in the government sector that is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Its highly-recognized Master of Business Administration (MBA) has produced more than 300 Chief Executive Officers in the country. PIMA members play key roles in organizations around the world and always demonstrate their commitment to the needs of the PIM, fellow Alumni members and current students.
Denzil Indrajith Perera was appointed to the Board of SANASA General Insurance Company on 1st December 2020 and currently serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director. Having obtained his MBA (Merit) from Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), B.Sc. – Marketing Special (Hons) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM (UK), Perera became a Chartered Marketer in 2009. He is also a member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and received the status of Practicing Marketer in 2009.
Perera’s expertise lies in the domains of General Insurance, Personal Care, Food, International Business, Service Marketing, B2B and B2G Sales, Customer Care and Cables. He has served in the fields of Marketing, Branding and Sales at a number of leading local companies including Sri Lanka Insurance, Union Assurance, Hemas Consumer Brands, Marina Foods, ACL Cables and Hayleys Group during his illustrious career spanning 17 years where he started as a Brand Executive and reached the level of General Manager. As a well-renowned Brand and Business Strategist/Consultant, he is a part-time senior lecturer at the SLIM for Strategic Brand Management and a visiting lecturer for Universities of Colombo, and Sri Jayewardenepura for Strategic Marketing. Perera has also been a lecturer for CIM, CIMA, CMA and MBAs offered by overseas universities. He is a Director of the National Design Center and is also a founding member of the “Re-Design Sri Lanka” movement which was established to support SMEs in Sri Lanka and was recently appointed as the Chairman of Salusala.
