ROTARY SRI LANKA HONOURS BUSINESS LEADER MANIKKAVASAGAM
Reputed Philanthropist Manikkavasam was honoured by Rotary Sri Lanka at the District Awards 2019-20 held on 19th September 2020 at Hilton Colombo in recognition of outstanding service and support extended for Rotary’s Children’s Heart Surgery project.
Rotary Sri Lanka is on a humanitarian mission to assist children with congenital heart disease to gain access to critical open-heart surgery without compromising on the quality of medical care. The surgeries are carried out locally as well as in India and the goal is to carry out surgeries for 300 children who are in waiting list at LRH.
“Mr. Manikkavasam is one the supporting pillars and a main sponsor of the project, who has been assisting Rotary throughout”, says Sebastian Karunakaran, District Governor 2019-20.
Manikkavasam is the founder of Arun Prasanth Memorial Trust and McSons Organics (Pvt) Ltd., the company known for its brand “Cavadi” as one of the leading manufacturers of camphor tablets and naphthalene balls in Sri Lanka since 1967.
The Rotary District Awards is the celebration of Rotary Sri Lanka’s success story with over LKR 800 Million worth projects carried out by our clubs, despite the trying times. Some of the key projects just to name a few are Cervical Cancer Elimination & Awareness, Congenital Heart Disease Surgery for 300 Children, Cleft Palate Corrective Surgery for children, Haemo Dialysis Machines for hospitals, Ayati Project in partnership local corporates, Skin Bank for Burn patients and the COVID-19 response project worth of LKR 120 Million.
