A series of religious programs held to commemorate the People’s Bank 55th Anniversary
In commemoration ofthe People’s Bank 55thAnniversary, the People’s Bank Buddhist Association, Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis andChristians Guild organised a series of religious observances at the People’s Bank Head Office for its staff.
The People’s Bank Buddhist Association organized two meritorious acts including an all-night pirith sermonon the 1st of July and an almsgiving ceremony was held for 55 priests the next day.
The Honorable Patron of the People’s Bank Buddhist Association, Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Chief incumbent of PeliyagodaVidyalankaraPirivena, Dr. WalamitiyaweKusaladhammaThero and the Chief incumbent of the Colombo Fort SambuddhalokaViharaya, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Pali and Buddhism, Professor IththademaliyeIndasarathero provided patronage for the series of religious programs.
A multi-religious programme organized by the People’s Bank Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis and Christians Guild, was held on the 4th of July. At this ceremony, Hindu divine offerings weremade by SwamiKurukal of the Bambalapitiya Srinivasan while an Islamic holy mass was conducted by ImaamDeshabanduKaariFaiszal Hassan Maulavi of Colombo DawatagahaJumma Islamic mosque. A Catholic holy mass was conducted by Rev. Fr. NalinSuraj of Kongodamulla church in Katana District.
The Corporate and Executive Management of the Bank including HemasiriFernando – Chairman, N. Vasantha Kumar – CEO / General Manager, staff and retired staff of People’s Bank participated in these programs, which invoked spiritual blessingsfor the country and its people, including the visionary leaders of People’s Bank.
