Triad celebrates golden era, taking home the highest number of Golds at Epica Awards Sri Lanka
The global local clinches 8 awards across numerous categories – 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze
Triad,Sri Lanka’s leading integrated communication company, once again made its presence felt at the recently concluded inaugural international Epica Awards Sri Lanka. The agency’s track record of consistently creating benchmark communication solutions based on homegrown insights and strategies proved to be award-worthy as Triad walked away with the highest number of Gold metal, with eight coveted awards in total.
Recognized as a big winner of the night, the ‘Life Chant’ campaign, which addressed an issue that has affected the Sri Lankan lives for years, used the unconventional medium of chants written and recited by Buddhist monks to educate the public about dengue mosquito breeding. The campaign won 2 Gold awards in the Public Interest Health & Safety and Consumer Direct categories, 2 Silver awards in Radio Advertising and Media Innovation – Alternative Media categories, and 1 Bronze award for the best use of sound.
‘Inherit his name, inherit his way’, yet another campaign displaying a social cause through the intention of reducing water wastage by educating Muslims on reducing water consumption during ablution (a ritual cleansing that all Muslims partake in 5 times a day). This novel approach to water conservation bagged 2 Gold awards under the Public Interest Environmental and Product Design categories. Additionally, Triad’s aptly named ‘Larger than Life’ launch campaign for Sri Lanka’s largest international shopping mall, One Galle Face Mall, secured a Bronze award under the Experiential & Shopper Marketing category.
Sharing his thoughts on this remarkable achievement for Triad, CEO Sarva Ameresekere had this to say, “Throughout our 26 years of operations, Triad has successfully challenged the norm with our well-crafted communications focused on building strong local brands and delivering tangible results. At the very heart of our operations, we are proud to be local. It is this positive ‘Sri Lanka can’ attitude that continues to motivate us to outdo ourselves, showing the world what the global local is truly capable of.” He added, “I would like to thank the entire API team for our success at the Epica Awards, as without their creative genius, unwavering strategic thinking and direction, tonight would not have been such a resounding victory for Triad.”
Twelve years since the last national creative industry awards, Chillies, which the company dominated being adjudged the ‘Agency of the Year’ over 3 consecutive years, this year’s win at Epical Awards Sri Lanka is testament to Triad’s continued domination of the industry. The company is driven by an inspired and passionate team of young trendsetters who share a single-minded ambition to produce extraordinary and effective work. Their efforts over the years have established Triad’s status as the ‘most respected agency’ in Sri Lanka, as awarded by LMD magazine recently.
Director – Brands Shehan Samarasinha, who was the key driver of this year’s awards pitch, said, “In a world surrounded by wicked problems, we the shapers of behavior have an inherent responsibility to provide brave solutions. We are proud that the work we do has inspired others to think different and the accolades we have achieved are a testament to these brave solutions. From being the only agency to be awarded a Silver award at AdStars to being the only agency in Asia to be a finalist at Indie Awards, and having the only entry from Sri Lanka to be featured on The WARC Prize for Asian Strategy, Triad has taken the Sri Lankan flag to new heights. We look forward to taking our local ideas overseas to inspire change among millions.”
With a history spanning over 33 years, Epica Awards is the only global award show judged solely by journalists. With over 200 journalists on the judging panel and over 4,000 entries submitted, the global awards is one of the largest creative festivals globally held in Amsterdam. This is the first time in Epica Awards history that the award show has been franchised, marking the very first Epica Awards Sri Lanka.
Triad ends the year 2019/20 with a total haul of 4 golds, 4 silver, 3 bronze and 13 shortlists from 5 international award shows.
