- Funding for Football resumes
Football House, Colombo.
FFSL President Anura DE SILVA has made good dividends with his visit to AFC on 14 Sep 2017. He met with AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, MA Operations Director Ravi Kumar, MA Development Director Stueart Larman and Yogesh Desai, Development Officer for South & Central regions of Asia at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Earlier, AFC had sent a letter to FFSL indicating that future grants may be temporarily suspended due to financial malpractices taken place with FFSL Finance Manager swindling big money from FFSL accounts.
DE SILVA managed to convince the AFC management that he and his newly elected team have already taken measures to adopt transparent and accountable system of financial operations. With these new procedures FFSL will send monthly management accounts to AFC and FIFA.
AFC and FIFA both will resume their grants with effect from 1 October 2017.
AFC management was happy to note that FFSL continue with their activities despite fateful financial situation and has thanked DE SILVA on these efforts.
Despite the situation, the premier competitions DIALOG Champions League, Division – I championship have started, and FFSL has already sent the U16 Junior team for SAFF and AFC tournaments.
Also U19 team expected to travel to Tajikistan is in October 2017.
